Epsom is quintessentially British and one of the great social summer events. Why not pack a picnic and arrange a luxury coach to take you. At Kingsbridge, we get booked up quickly so don’t wait too long.
It is billed as ‘The worlds greatest flat race’ with a worldwide TV audience following the action on the day.
The race was the first of it’s kind and started in 1779. There have been some famous visitors over the years including Charles Dickens. William Powell Frith painted Derby day in 1856, although there is more hospitality than horse racing going on in the painting below.
Whether you’re interested in Ladies day on 1st June or Derby day on 2nd June, this race is an annual event in the summer social calendar. Not to be missed.
Ladies can wear lower cut tops and bigger hats than at Ascot races, where the dress code is more formal. Men are requested wear a jacket, collar and ties in the Duchess’s stand. But in the Queens stand the dress code is more casual, jeans can be worn as long as they aren’t fashionably ripped. Trainers are allowed too but no sleeveless vest tops.
Vogue Williams and Frankie Bridge are the festival ambassadors this year. Vogue will judge the 2018 Style Award on Ladies Day. The tagline for this years’ event is ‘The Supreme Test of the Racehorse and the Wardrobe’. So, don’t have a wardrobe malfunction on public transport and let us take you there.
Kingsbridge will make sure that you arrive with Fascinator intact and no squashed Top Hat.
We look forward to seeing some stunning fashion on 1st June
Radio2’s Jo Whiley will be DJing the official after party on the Hyperion lawn for the second year running. Enjoy a picnic on the hill and then join in the carnival atmosphere.
Or treat yourself and your guests to a fine dining experience with Chez Roux in the Blue Riband restaurant. For spectacular views of the racecourse, parades ring and winners enclosure book a table in the Downs View Suite.
Contact us at Kingsbridge for more information about our packages to take you and your party to Epsom and bring you home afterwards.
